Kitchen remodeling in Marietta, Georgia

A kitchen in a 1950s ranch near the Square or a 1970s house off Powder Springs Road is a different project from a kitchen in a newer subdivision. Floors dip toward the middle of the room. Walls lean. Plaster breaks around every new outlet box. The electrical panel may have no space for the circuits a modern kitchen needs. Previous remodels may have covered old damage instead of repairing it.

A low bid that ignores those conditions turns into change orders later. We look for them first. On the walkthrough we check floor level across the room, the panel and service size, the framing under the kitchen from the crawlspace or basement, and the wall you want removed. The proposal includes the subfloor repair, electrical upgrade, and beam when they are needed.

Building a kitchen in an old house

Cabinets go in level even when the floor is not, with shims and scribed fillers so doors and drawers line up. Counters are templated after cabinets are set, never before. Where we open plaster, we plan to blend or re-skin the wall instead of leaving an obvious patch. If a hidden problem appears after demolition, such as rot, damaged joists, or unsafe wiring, you get a written change with a price before we continue.

Permits

Addresses inside Marietta city limits are permitted by the city. Unincorporated addresses go through Cobb County. Electrical and plumbing changes in an older kitchen almost always need a permit, and we pull it.
