Kitchen remodeling in Acworth, Georgia

The typical Acworth kitchen we remodel is a closed galley under a soffit, in a house that is mostly used for outdoor living.

Many Acworth houses from the 1980s and 1990s have a narrow galley kitchen between the dining room and the family room, with a soffit above the upper cabinets. That soffit often contains ductwork, plumbing vents, or simply empty framing. Removing it and the wall beside it changes the room more than any cabinet choice, but only if we know what is inside it first.

On the walkthrough, we look inside the soffit through an access point or a small opening, check the attic for how the ductwork runs, and determine whether the wall carries load. That tells us whether the soffit can simply come out or the ductwork has to be rerouted, and what that costs, before you commit to a layout.

Kitchens that open outside

Near Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth, the deck or patio is often used as much as the family room. That shapes the kitchen. The path from the refrigerator to the back door should be clear, an island should not block the slider, and the door itself should be correctly flashed. We often find rot at the threshold of an old back door, and it is much easier to fix during a remodel.

What goes into the price

Demolition, any structural work or duct rerouting, plumbing and electrical rough-in, drywall, cabinets set level and true, counters templated after cabinets are installed, backsplash, trim, paint, and appliance installation. Depending on the address, permits are issued by the City of Acworth, Cobb County, or Cherokee County, and the proposal names the right one.

Questions we get asked in Acworth

Can the soffit over my cabinets come out?
Usually. If ductwork or vents run through it, they have to be rerouted, and we check before pricing so the cost is known up front.
Should the kitchen open to the deck?
For many Acworth houses, yes. A clear path to the back door, and sometimes a wider opening, improves how the whole house works. We check the header and flashing before recommending it.
